Beige Afghan Chobi rug 231x171cm

This is a hand-knotted Chobi rug, made the slow way — one knot at a time, on a floor loom, by a weaver in Afghanistan. The pattern is a Chobi, the style Afghan weavers developed specifically to mimic the soft, aged colour of an antique Persian rug using new wool. The wool is undyed or naturally dyed where possible, so the colours are warm rather than flat, and the pile is dense enough to handle a busy household.

At 231 x 171 cm (7.6 x 5.6 ft), it's a solid anchor for a living or dining room — big enough that furniture can sit on it rather than around it. The palette stays in soft beige and cream, about as easy to place against existing furniture as a handmade rug gets. One rug, one weaver, months of work — which is also why no two pieces in this range are identical.
