This piece is a hand-knotted Gulrez Tribal-pattern rug from Afghanistan — no two ever come out quite the same. It's a Gulrez tribal design, built from bold repeating medallions in the geometric style that nomadic weaving families have carried between generations, and you can see the difference up close. Made from 100% wool with natural dyes, the colour has real depth to it — the kind you only get from pigment worked into the fibre, not sprayed on top.

At 318 x 201 cm (10.4 x 6.6 ft), it's a good middle-of-the-room size — large enough to matter, not so large it fights the furniture. It ships as the individual piece shown in these photos; once it sells, that particular rug is gone.
