Afghan handmade rug,Chobi. Size:233x167 cm
This is a hand-knotted Chobi rug, made the slow way — one knot at a time, on a floor loom, by a weaver in Afghanistan. The pattern is woven in the Chobi style — an open field, a restrained border, and a colour palette built to look decades old the day it's finished. The wool takes natural dye unevenly on purpose, which is what gives a handmade rug that slight variation a machine-made one can't fake.
At 233 x 167 cm (7.6 x 5.5 ft), it's a good middle-of-the-room size — large enough to matter, not so large it fights the furniture. Being hand-knotted, it should soften and settle in over the first few months, the way natural-fibre rugs are meant to. This one's on sale right now — SR 5,700 down to SR 4,280.
