This Chobi rug was hand-knotted in Afghanistan, the kind of piece that takes months rather than days to finish. It's a Chobi, the style Afghan weavers developed specifically to mimic the soft, aged colour of an antique Persian rug using new wool. It's knotted from 100% wool with natural dyes, which is why the tones sit slightly muted rather than looking printed or synthetic.

Sized 246 x 174 cm (8.1 x 5.7 ft), it's roomy enough to define a seating area without swallowing the rest of the floor. Being hand-knotted, it should soften and settle in over the first few months, the way natural-fibre rugs are meant to.
