This is a hand-knotted Chobi rug, made the slow way — one knot at a time, on a floor loom, by a weaver in Afghanistan. The pattern is woven in the Chobi style — an open field, a restrained border, and a colour palette built to look decades old the day it's finished. The wool takes natural dye unevenly on purpose, which is what gives a handmade rug that slight variation a machine-made one can't fake.

This one comes in at 372 x 253 cm (12.2 x 8.3 ft), a size that works well as the main rug under a sofa or dining table. Because it's handmade, the piece you receive is the exact one photographed — not a reprint of a stock image.
