Afghan handmade rug,Chobi. Size:303x240cm

This is a hand-knotted Chobi rug, made the slow way — one knot at a time, on a floor loom, by a weaver in Afghanistan. It's a Chobi-pattern piece, named for the muted, sun-faded palette the style deliberately imitates using vegetable dye rather than fading over decades, and you can see the difference up close. The wool is undyed or naturally dyed where possible, so the colours are warm rather than flat, and the pile is dense enough to handle a busy household.

Sized 303 x 240 cm (9.9 x 7.9 ft), it's roomy enough to define a seating area without swallowing the rest of the floor. Being hand-knotted, it should soften and settle in over the first few months, the way natural-fibre rugs are meant to.
