Afghan war handmade small rug, doormat Chobi. Size: 80x57 cm
This is a hand-knotted Chobi rug, made the slow way — one knot at a time, on a floor loom, by a weaver in Afghanistan. It's woven in the Chobi style — an open field, a restrained border, and a colour palette built to look decades old the day it's finished, and you can see the difference up close. The wool takes natural dye unevenly on purpose, which is what gives a handmade rug that slight variation a machine-made one can't fake.
This smaller 80 x 57 cm (2.6 x 1.9 ft) piece is a low-commitment way to try a handmade rug — an entry mat, a spot beside the bed, or a landing pad by the door. One rug, one weaver, months of work — which is also why no two pieces in this range are identical. This one's on sale right now — SR 650 down to SR 502.
