Why New Zealand Wool
New Zealand wool is the benchmark material in professional rug production. The reason is not softness. It is color. Sheep raised in New Zealand's clean, open-grazing environment produce a fiber with a naturally bright white base that takes dye with exceptional accuracy. Colors are deeper, more consistent, and hold their tone over years of light exposure and foot traffic. The fiber also contains natural lanolin, which resists dry soiling without any treatment, and recovers from compression better than most alternatives. For a rug that needs to hold its look for a decade or more, there is no better starting point.
Every option in this collection begins with New Zealand wool. What you are choosing between is the origin of production and the surface finish of the design.
The Four Options
New Zealand Wool 🇮🇳
Hand-tufted in India by artisans with generational experience in the craft. Indian workshops have built some of the deepest hand-tufting traditions in the world, concentrated in Rajasthan and Bhadohi. The result is a rug with genuine artisanal character, strong design execution, and the full resilience of NZ fiber. The most accessible entry point into the Jerm collection without any compromise on material quality.
New Zealand Wool & Viscose Motifs 🇮🇳
The same NZ wool base and Indian craft, with viscose placed selectively in the raised design elements only. Viscose reflects light where wool absorbs it. In a majlis with indirect LED coves and marble surfaces, the pattern areas shift and catch light as you move through the room. The wool carries the structure and durability. The viscose carries the visual depth of the design. Dry cleaning only for the viscose areas.
New Zealand Wool 🇨🇳
NZ wool tufted and finished in China, where production standards emphasize precision and surface consistency. Chinese workshops are known for tighter tolerances in pile shearing, edge definition, and carving depth. The carved channels on Chinese-finished rugs tend to be cleaner and more uniform across large formats. Higher labor and finishing costs are reflected in the price. The right choice for grand-scale installations, hospitality settings, and spaces where technical precision at distance is as important as the design itself.
New Zealand Wool & Bamboo Silk Motifs 🇨🇳
The highest specification in the Jerm range. NZ wool base with bamboo silk placed in the design motifs, finished to Chinese precision standards. Bamboo silk is extracted from bamboo cellulose and produces a softer, more luminous sheen than standard viscose, with more uniform dye absorption and a naturally antibacterial finish. Paired with NZ wool and Chinese finishing, this option delivers the maximum in material quality, surface refinement, and long-term presence. Recommended for permanent formal installations where the rug is understood as a defining feature of the space.
The Ordering Process
- Select your design. Browse the collection or describe your space. We work from reference images, mood boards, or a brief conversation about what you have in mind.
- Confirm your dimensions and material. You provide the exact width and length in meters. Any size. No standard dimensions, no adjustments to fit.
- 50% deposit to begin production. Once confirmed, a 50% deposit starts the process. Nothing enters the workshop without it.
- CAD drawing approval. Before any tufting begins, we produce a CAD drawing of your rug at full scale. This is a precise technical layout showing the design, proportions, and placement across your exact dimensions. You review it, request any changes, and sign off. Production does not start until you approve it.
- Color selection via the color box. Colors are selected from a physical wool color reference box, the same system used by professional rug manufacturers. You pick the exact shades you want. What you choose is what gets dyed and tufted. No interpretation, no guessing.
- Production. Hand-tufting takes 30 to 45 days depending on complexity and size. Every rug is tufted by hand then hand-carved to create the high-low sculptural relief that defines the Jerm aesthetic.
- Quality check and finishing. Before shipping, every rug is inspected, trimmed, and finished. Chinese-origin pieces go through an additional precision shearing stage.
- Delivery. Shipped from the production facility and delivered to your door. Free shipping across all GCC countries. Total lead time 80 to 90 days from deposit.
- 50% balance before shipping. The remaining balance is collected before the rug leaves for delivery.
